Welcome to WORK DRAMA

Episode 11 — Drama Starts Early!

One episode away from the Season 1 finale.

And today’s work bestie of the day?

Seven years old.

It turns out everything we’ve unpacked this season — the power trips, the people who insert themselves where they don’t belong, the ones who just refuse to calm down — none of that starts at the office.

It starts a whole lot earlier.

Today’s story comes straight from second grade. And it has everything.

Names changed. Jobs protected. Opinions very much included.

Have your own work drama? Don’t be shy, submit it and become the next Work Bestie — we’re just getting started!

After leaving her in-person medical job for remote work, Lizbeth realized she wasn’t going to miss the commute, but she was absolutely going to miss the work drama.

So, she built a podcast to source it.

Sharon is officially out of the office this week — she’s on vacation. So today it’s just Lizbeth, the group chat, and a very special pre-recorded guest who has some things to say about a boy named Leo.

[00:00:01] Speaker A: If you've ever left work and immediately had to text somebody like yo, you're not going to believe this. This podcast is for you. Welcome to Work Drama, the podcast where we unpack the workplace stories people whisper about trauma, bond over and still think about years later. I'm Lizbeth. I come from the medical world, so I'm here to bring context, logic, and the questions people should have asked before someone hit reply all. I left my in person job for remote work and I realized something real quick. I don't miss the commute, but I definitely miss the drama. So we fixed that. Shayra may be out of the office today, but don't worry, I brought in a special guest to help unpack today's mess. With a fresh perspective, we breaking down anonymized stories from offices, hospitals and everywhere in between. Calling out the nonsense and reacting in real time and figuring out if something was actually toxic or just wildly mishandled. Names changed, jobs protected, opinions very much included. And for legality purposes. This is not legal advice. Alright, work bestie, let's get into it. We've covered theft in the or. We've covered a man who ghosted emergency calls from his couch. We've covered a subordinate who finally got a yes after striking out with every woman in the building. And today we're covering second grade. Because here's what I've learned after almost a full season of work drama. It doesn't matter if you're 19 or 90. It doesn't matter if you're a nurse, a teacher, a paramedic, or a manager. Drama is not a workplace problem. Drama is a people problem and people start early. Hello, workplace group chat. How are we today? I'm so excited to be here with you today. And you'll notice that I'm actually alone. It's just you and me in the group chat today. Sharon is still on vacation. So you know, last episode we had Dr. Darian on and honestly, I want to acknowledge the audio. I will be remastering the audio and bringing that back and we'll hear how much better the sound will be on that episode. Dr. Darian was actually our first remote guest and so the editing was a little trickier on that one. But loved the episode with Dr. Darian. But yes, you will be hearing a better audio on that in the near future. Give me some time. But going back to it, Sharon is still out of the office. She's on vacation living her life in Puerto Rico. She's actually coming tomorrow. As of the, you know, time, I'm Recording this. She will be back home by the time you actually listen to this, but sending prayers that my bestie has a safe trip back home. Can't wait for her to get back so that we can hear about her adventures in Puerto Rico. So, yeah, so today is just you and me in the group chat. But no worries. I have something special lined up, you know, I do. So before we get into today's episode, it's more of a. I'm gonna call it a little bonus, because honestly, I had wanted to record an extra episode before Sharon left, but, you know, life gets in the way. Mostly on her and then on mine, but a little shade in there, you know, she had a lot to prepare before going on vacation. Totally fine, but didn't get to record. And so I actually found a little nugget that I felt like we can definitely use for today. So that'll be that. But before we get into all of that, I want to reflect on this season so far. I started this podcast back in April of 2026, and it's now almost September, so not even a full year in, but we made it past 10 episodes, and I'm so proud of that. This season has been a lot more than just a podcast for me, though. When I started, I had just left my job in the medical field three to four months prior to starting the podcast. I started because I realized that I felt lonely. My desk at my old job was kind of a little hub where people would come and chat with me about the work drama and about things going on. And it was just like I also had like this area where I can hear stuff kind of down the hallway to something. I could hear conversations. I don't know if they know that, but it was a nice spot. And working from home, working remotely ended up being a little bit isolating for me. There was some drama that was stressing me out, right. But once all that was gone, I realized how lonely it was. And that's when the idea of work drama came. I was missing the story that was missing my work bestie. Like, that was a top thing too. And I was like, I know I'm not alone, right? There's others out there that are missing the work besties that are working from home. And, you know, I have talked to a lot of people, especially online on our Tick Tock. If you don't follow our Tick Tock, it's work underscore drama underscore school. Follow us there. But there have been people that have commented on my post saying, like, they love not Having to work drama. And that's good. I love that for you. And my thing is I don't want to be in the drama. I want to hear about the drama, right? Like, I love the gossip part of it. Like, let's just hear the stories because who really wants to be part of the drama, right? The good thing about this podcast, though, is you get to share it, you get to vent about it. We get to change it up so that you don't get caught out. And it's a safe place for the work drama. So I'm really excited that we launched this. I hope that you guys are loving it. So anyway, going back to kind of the fact that I was started my job as remote work and sales mid season, I lost that job and decided I'm just going to go all in full time on my own business. So I am still remote and I'm still building, right? Because I had transitioned careers to go into sales. Really, that was a means to an end, to get to a place financially where I could really support my business and grow it. So it came early for me, right? I was like, I'm going all in. I was in a situation where I can do that. So that's where I've been now. And so the podcast started as something to fill in the creative space and that kind of loneliness, but it became something more. I didn't just document people's work drama this season. I was living my own and kind of sharing it with you guys. Hopefully in the future I can share a little bit more. You know, as things are were early, I couldn't share too much. And I know Sharon's still in the trenches, so she has to be careful with what she shares as well. But more on that to come in the future, I'm sure. So back to the season. Every story this season had kind of a common thread. I don't know if you guys noted whether it was a hospital, a school, a call center, a department store. There was always someone who violated trust. I felt like that was the main kind of thread this season. You know, this drama is funny because all the stories were so different and so, you know, different fields, different industries. And that's what we want to keep coming to the show. We want to show a little bit of every industry. We want you to see yourself in these stories that. Not in the drama really, but be able to relate, right? Like you work in a department store and you're like, oh my God, I could see that happening or that totally happened at my job too, or things like that. So definitely want to keep that up. But this season I'm wondering if seasonally we're going to be seeing specific common threads or maybe this is the main thread. Maybe work drama is based around people losing trust, breaking trust or overcoming redemption stories, things like that. But I don't know. We'll see. It's really up to you. Group chat. It's really up to you what you send in to us, the stories that we end up choosing and sharing. So we're just excited to keep it going. If you're here, you love the work drama as much as I do. And it's not about being messy. We don't have to think about it as being messy. We have to think about it as like, we're all going through this, right? Whether you're working from home or you're working at an office, we. We're all going through it. Because I mean, even working for yourself. It's funny, now that I am working for myself, eventually I know I'm gonna probably have some drama with clients. I know in the past I had one client that there was so much back and forth. This is before I officially made this business official. So my business, in case anybody's wondering, cause I haven't yet mentioned it fully on this podcast, is called the Brand Formula. It's brand strategy for businesses who feel like the best kept secret in their industry. So do brand strategy around message clarity, visual consistency, audience alignment, stuff like that. I don't do a lot of like the design stuff because I had some drama with that in the past. It's really hard to talk to people about color psychology and imagery and the science behind all of that and get them to see your point of view as a strategist. I realized that early on, so I've kind of taken that out. I will be contracting somebody to do that type of work for me because she's amazing. We're in conversations now, but for now I'm doing more of the messaging clarity, audience alignment kind of stuff. Very important stuff. If you don't know, brand strategy is a system that you need in your business. Every aspect of your business, marketing, the sales department, all these different things need to all live cohesively within your branding. So anyway, that's my little tangent on that. You can find my website, thebrandformula.com I'll put it in the show notes in case anybody out there has a business or wants to transition into their own business because their job is driving them crazy. That was me. So, yeah, sticking with the brand formula. And so that's the business that I've been kind of discussing a little bit. So that's that. But right now, I want to let you guys know that season one of work drama is coming to a finale on episode 12. I guess this is technically episode 11, although I want to call it more of a bonus little. A little unhinged in a way compared to my usual format and all that. But yeah, we're actively sourcing stories for season two, and it should be a good one because now we have a framework, right? An idea of kind of like how this season went. I'm hoping to get more story details when they get submitted to us as well, so they should start getting a little juicier. And again, that's up to you guys. You guys have to send us your stories. If you have a friend or a friend of a friend or heard a story, go ask about it, get the details, bring it back to us, send them to workdramapodmail.com that's linked in the show notes as well. We're on TikTok, like I said at work, underscore, drama, underscore. You can also send stories in the DMs on TikTok. I did start a Reddit page. I'm really not understanding Reddit, and some people were coming at me. I don't know if I could do it. The whole people being anonymous on the Internet, they get real, real excited on the keyboards, right? And I'm Puerto Rican. That's all I must say. So try to compose myself, but at the end of the day, I'm Puerto Rican and I'm gonna react. So I don't know about Reddit too much, but I'm trying. I'm trying because Reddit seems like a really good place where people would send me stories. And I'm thinking of creating a community soon. We'll see. I'll keep you guys posted. Season two, and I'm thinking maybe I might just bring in a little bonus episode in between as well. Again, because I might miss you guys and hopefully you'll miss us. So we'll keep you posted on that. We will also be launching on YouTube, although we won't be doing video yet. I'm trying to convince Sharon to do video, but, you know, some people just don't want to be on camera. That's totally fine. I have some ideas around that. But we will be launching the YouTube version of the podcast within our little break. So it would just be these episodes up on. On YouTube, but that's all the business talk that I think I have for the podcast, the direction we're going, sourcing all the things. So, yeah, before we get to that finale episode, though, I have a little bonus episode for you for today. Like I said, because I was trying to source something. I was like, okay, I'm going to be alone for this episode. Let me find a story and just kind of tell the story myself. But as I was looking, I ended up going through some of our recordings that I had saved, and I found something that I think perfectly captures everything the season has been about. My niece sat down with me one day. We were actually just kind of. I was editing, and she happened to be with me that day. I told her I had to stop by the studio, and she had no idea what I was talking about because she didn't even know I had a podcast. But we came, she was drawn in the other room, and I decided, like, let me have her come in and just have some fun on the mics. So she is 7, and she's finishing up the second grade, and she sat down on these mics like it was her job. Like she. Like she's been here before. And she told me a little. A little something. She told me about a little drama in her class, and of course, I could not keep it to myself. Now, before I play this, I want to be clear about something. We come here every episode and we unpack adult workplace drama, right? The office politics, the power dynamics, and, you know, the HR violations. All these things, and every single time, at the root of it is something very human and very simple. Somebody felt disrespected. Somebody didn't get what they wanted, or somebody decided to make it everyone else's problem. Second grade is no different. So I present to you our work bestie of the day, my niece, Lylah. And she has something to say about a boy named Leo. Now, if you need the transcript, it will be available. I will make sure that it's all accurately transcribed. Because you'll notice she's seven years old. So are you guys ready? Let's get into it. [00:14:20] Speaker A: Welcome to my little studio. Can you introduce yourself to my work group chat friends? [00:14:27] Speaker B: Hi, my name is Lylah, and I'm in second grade. [00:14:30] Speaker A: Wow, Lylah, you're a professional at this. [00:14:33] Speaker B: I'm going to go all the way to the upstairs. [00:14:36] Speaker A: To the upstairs. What's upstairs? Class. Yeah, class. [00:14:41] Speaker A: So what class is it like a different grade? [00:14:43] Speaker A: Third grade is upstairs? [00:14:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:45] Speaker A: Oh, third grade is upstairs. So you're in the first floor now? Oh, I used to go to that school when I was your age. Yeah. That was like a million years ago. Am I that old? A million years old. Speaker B- No Speaker A: Thank you. I appreciate it. Do you know the name of your new teacher yet or. Not yet? [00:15:04] Speaker B: Her name is Ms. Marine. [00:15:06] Speaker A: Ms. Marine? [00:15:07] Speaker B: Yeah. She's pregnant. [00:15:09] Speaker A: And she's pregnant?! [00:15:10] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:15:11] Speaker B: She's gonna have a baby. [00:15:12] Speaker A: Oh. So you might have a substitute teacher for a little while when the baby's born. Oh. But then you'll get to see the baby. That sounds fun. Speaker A: So you have like a big school, right? Speaker B: Like a school that goes. It's different floors, down to up, down to up. Speaker A: Like, I think there's probably like three or four... Three floors maybe. [00:15:32] Speaker A: So you gotta go up the stairs every day? [00:15:34] Speaker A: There's no elevator at your school? [00:15:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:37] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, there's an elevator, but I. I'm pretty sure that's probably for kids that have crutches or wheelchairs. [00:15:43] Speaker B: No, we don't have no wheelchairs. Only the police go there because they have keys. [00:15:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. So you're gonna have to use the stairs. [00:15:54] Speaker A: You excited about going up and down the stairs every day? [00:15:56] Speaker B: No. [00:15:58] Speaker B: My legs will hurts so much. I would fall down the stairs, all the way down. I'll be like, ahhh, my back. [00:16:05] Speaker A: Let's not do that. Let's not fall down the stairs. [00:16:09] Speaker B: Yeah, I remember Michael and Leo did that. [00:16:12] Speaker A: They did that? [00:16:13] Speaker B: Yeah. And I did see them doing it. [00:16:18] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:16:19] Speaker B: Michael was on his knees that Speaker A: he would fell down the stairs? Speaker B: No. [00:16:24] Speaker A: Oh, I thought you said he fell down the stairs. Well, Lylah, did you know that I had a podcast? [00:16:30] Speaker B: I did not even know. [00:16:31] Speaker A: Yes, I have a podcast. Is that cool or what? [00:16:34] Speaker B: That's cool. [00:16:35] Speaker A: Thanks. Well, now you're gonna be on my podcast. Are you excited? [00:16:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:41] Speaker A: Well, my podcast is about work. Drama. It's about drama. What do you think about drama? I am glad you have no opinion because you don't know anything about drama. Right. Because your life is fun. Everything's fun right now, right? Speaker B: Yeah. Speaker A: Everything's fun in second grade? No drama in second grade? [00:17:02] Speaker B: One drama. [00:17:03] Speaker A: One drama?! There is? Oh, God. [00:17:04] Speaker A: Okay, you gotta tell me. [00:17:05] Speaker B: This drama, [00:17:09] Speaker B: this drama is about Leo. [00:17:11] Speaker A: About Leo? [00:17:12] Speaker B: Yeah. Because he keeps screaming every time Speaker A: about what? Speaker B: Because I saw him throw all the chairs on the floor. [00:17:21] Speaker A: On the floor for what? What happened? [00:17:23] Speaker B: Because I think he was mad because he didn't know the question of the math. Speaker A: Oh. Speaker B: Then. Then when we come. When we came back, there was a huge mess. A lot of chairs Speaker A: everywhere. Speaker B: Yeah. On the floor, tables. Speaker B: And Leo had to say Sorry. [00:17:45] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. [00:17:46] Speaker A: So Leo did a whole mess. [00:17:49] Speaker B: Yes. I was like, Leo, boy, what are you doing? And he said, leave me alone. [00:17:56] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. Leo sounds scary. [00:17:59] Speaker B: Super scary. Speaker A: Wow. Speaker B: I ran for my life. [00:18:04] Speaker A: You ran for your life? [00:18:06] Speaker B: Yeah. He was chasing me around the room. [00:18:08] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. [00:18:11] Speaker B: I'm gonna give you a loli-pop. Speaker B: he said, I don't want to loli-pop. I want to eat you. [00:18:16] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. Speaker B: I was like, You want me to call the principle? And he was like NO [00:18:21] Speaker B: And I told him, good. Pick all these up. [00:18:26] Speaker A: Good. [00:18:28] Speaker A: That's awesome. [00:18:29] Speaker B: Then Enrique was looking at me like, you're not the boss. I went, Mind Your Business. [00:18:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, at least you were trying to help the teacher. Yeah. Wow. So Leo threw a tantrum because he didn't know the math question. Speaker B: Yeah. Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. Wow, that is some drama. I guess there is drama in second grade, huh? Speaker B: Yes Speaker A: Wow. I didn't know that. I had drama in second grade a little bit too, actually. [00:18:54] Speaker B: And Michael's not gonna go third grade. He been bad all day. [00:19:00] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. So somebody's not going to third grade with you either. [00:19:03] Speaker B: And Leo and Michael. [00:19:06] Speaker A: Wow. [00:19:06] Speaker B: They gonna stay in second grade. [00:19:09] Speaker A: Well, at least you don't got to deal with that mess. [00:19:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:11] Speaker A: You get to go upstairs and they get to stay downstairs. And hopefully they do better next year so that they don't stay back again. I hope they do better. Right? Let's hope that they do better. [00:19:22] Speaker B: Okay. [00:19:23] Speaker A: This is awesome. Thank you for being on my podcast. Speaker B: mmhmm Speaker A: You actually just came because I was recording some content and I was like, let's record something. Let's have some fun. So now you get to see what this is like. Would you want to have your own podcast? [00:19:36] Speaker B: Yes. [00:19:36] Speaker A: What would you want it to be about? [00:19:38] Speaker B: I would like to be like, to do like stuff for people and kids. [00:19:45] Speaker A: Oh, what kind of stuff? [00:19:47] Speaker B: Helping people who is hurting. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Who's hurting? [00:19:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Stopping people who are bullying, bullying people. [00:20:00] Speaker A: I like that. [00:20:02] Speaker B: Cuz Leo was bullying Like five people in school. [00:20:04] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. Somebody really needs to talk to him. [00:20:06] Speaker B: That was like the girl. [00:20:08] Speaker A: He was bullying the girls? [00:20:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:10] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:20:11] Speaker B: Ten of the girls. [00:20:12] Speaker A: Ten?! Wow. Leo seems to be mean. [00:20:16] Speaker B: So I told the principal, he. And he was suspended. Speaker A: He was suspended? Speaker B: for like 30 days. [00:20:23] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:20:24] Speaker B: and he couldn't come back. [00:20:25] Speaker B: And Michael Speaker A: and Michael? Oh, wow. Are Michael and Leo friends? [00:20:30] Speaker B: He don't have that much friends. [00:20:32] Speaker A: No? Oh. Cuz they sound like the two bullies that would be two friends. And they would be bullying people maybe. [00:20:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:20:39] Speaker A: Oh, so you would create a podcast [00:20:41] Speaker A: that would stop bullying and help people. [00:20:43] Speaker A: I like that. That's a really good idea. Speaker B: Yea Speaker A: I think you could do It. [00:20:48] Speaker B: And I told Enrique that, but he said, I would literally help people and teachers. And I was like, That's it? And he said, Yes. [00:20:59] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, two great minds together could do big things, right? So he could help teachers and people, and you can help bullying or to stop bullying. Speaker B: Yeah [00:21:11] Speaker A: I think that could be a good combination. Okay, well, thank you for sharing your drama today. [00:21:17] Speaker A: I think that was fun. [00:21:18] Speaker A: I didn't know there was second grade drama. [00:21:20] Speaker B: Yeah, Speaker A: Well, I hope you don't have too much third grade drama. I hope third grade is good. Speaker B: Third grade is good. [00:21:26] Speaker A: It's gonna be good. [00:21:27] Speaker A: And you're gonna be upstairs, and you're not gonna fall down the stairs, but you're gonna get some good exercise going up the stairs. You don't like the sound of that? [00:21:36] Speaker B: No, I don't like doing exercise. I only like doing exercise in the gym first before I go to class [00:21:46] Speaker A: and recess. Recess is exercise? [00:21:48] Speaker A: A little bit, Speaker B: yeah. [00:21:51] Speaker A: If you're running up and down and being chased, that's exercise. [00:21:56] Speaker B: I've been chased five times. [00:21:59] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. [00:22:00] Speaker B: By Leo. [00:22:01] Speaker A: By Leo? [00:22:02] Speaker B: Leo is so short. [00:22:03] Speaker C: He's short? [00:22:04] Speaker B: No. [00:22:05] Speaker A: Oh, I thought you said he's short. [00:22:07] Speaker B: He's, like, so slow. He can't, like, catch up. I'm like running everywhere past him. [00:22:13] Speaker A: Oh, so he's chasing, but he can't catch you. [00:22:15] Speaker B: You wait for me. Speaker A: (laughs) In slow motion Speaker B: I'm like, No! And you're tryin to bully me. Then I'm like running so fast that he, Here (points to herself), pulled me. And I'm like Teacher, Leo pulled me. And Leo got suspended, again. [00:22:33] Speaker A: Again. Oh, wow. [00:22:34] Speaker B: For 50 days. [00:22:36] Speaker A: 50 days this time?! Wow. That's crazy. Crazy. Well, I pray that Leo does better next year. At least you won't have to deal [00:22:42] Speaker A: with Leo if he's staying back. [00:22:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:45] Speaker A: Oh, man. That is some drama, girl. All right, well, we're all set here. Thank you for jumping on my podcast, Lylah. you want to come again sometime? Speaker B: Yeah [00:22:55] Speaker A: I think I might need to learn... I might need to hear some third grade drama. [00:23:00] Speaker A: You want to come back for third grade drama? Speaker B: Yeah Speaker A: Okay. Speaker B: then fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh... Speaker A: Every year [00:23:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:08] Speaker A: Oh, and it's just gonna get juicier and juicier. I bet. All right, Lila. Well, say bye to my group chat friends. Speaker B: Byeeeeee [00:23:16] Speaker A: Okay. That was my niece, Lylah. Wasn't she just adorable? So let me make sure everyone in the group chat is caught up. So there's a boy in Lylah's second grade class. His name is Leo. And Leo had a bad day, so specifically had a bad test day. He got some answers wrong, and Leo did not handle that well. Now, in our adult lives, when we get something wrong, we might send a frustrated email. Right? Who hasn't done that? I did that yesterday. We might complain to our work Bestie, we might go to the bathroom and take three deep breaths. Leo. Leo started throwing chairs. Second grade chairs everywhere. Now, as a result of the chair situation, Leo did not get recess. And while the class was at lunch, Leo apparently took that time to really commit to the chair arrangement. Because when they came back, chairs were still everywhere, apparently. Now, here's where Lylah enters the story. Because my niece, in true work, drama fashion, decided someone had to intervene. She told Leo to calm down. She told him she was gonna tell the principal. Leo was not happy about that. And that's when Enrique showed up, who has nothing to do with any of this. Enrique had thoughts. Specifically, Enrique told she is not the boss. My niece told Enrique, mind your business. And I could not be more proud. And as a bonus update from the second grade, apparently there's another kid named Michael who is also having a rough year. Word on the playground is he might be staying back. And Leo, well, Leo might be joining him. Lylah seemed to have a lot of little drama nuggets. So I don't know what's going on in second grade, but honestly, from what I've seen on TikTok from these teachers talking about Gen Alpha, it's a mess out there. And I feel for you teachers, because this just solidified that for me as well. You guys do not get paid enough. You guys deserve all the credit in the world. So I'm sure some teachers out there are just like, I have a Leo in my class, and we love Leo. Leo just needs some redirection. Right? Leo, I'm sure, is a great kid. I'm sure there's just a little work that needs to be done there. Right? But. Okay, let's unpack this, because, you know, even though I don't have my bestie here and I'm all alone, we're still gonna analyze this drama. Because I would be doing a disservice to this podcast if I didn't take a moment to analyze what happened. So first, let's look at Leo. Leo is what we call a flight risk. Not because he's a bad kid, but because something triggered him. Right? He didn't have the tools to handle it. And I'm sure everyone in that classroom felt the consequences. Sound familiar? I'm sure we've all dealt with this with some adults in our lives, because I can think of at least three episodes this season where a grown adult did something similar with just different furniture or different words or different actions. And then there's Lylah. She saw chaos and decided to manage it. She told him to calm down, she threatened to escalate it to the principal. That's their version of HR, right? And she's seven years old and she already understands that some situations require going above someone's head, Right? I think she's going to be a great manager one day or a great podcaster. I mean, I'm just saying. So I love that she kind of saw that and was trying to like mitigate the situation. Like, I find that really interesting for her. As a 7 year old. I don't know that I had the capacity to. I mean, I was a good kid. I was a very quiet and shy kid. I probably just would have watched and not said anything and mind my business. I probably would have been the Enrique in this situation, although I wouldn't have vocalized it. And on that note, let's talk about. The one that I really want to sit on is Enrique. And I know it's probably hard to understand in my niece when she mentioned Enrique, but we have an Enrique every workplace, right? Every single one of us does. The person who was not involved, who had no stake in the situation, who was not even asked for their opinion. And yet there they are. You're not the boss. We've seen Enrique this entire season. Enrique was in the department store questioning whether this relationship was appropriate or not and trying to mitigate and jump through hoops to make this relationship not be seen at the office. When really, Enrique, you could have minded your business and let it implode if it needed to. Enrique was in the Catholic school named Gabby telling the director that our work bestie had reached out, which could have prevented our work bestie from getting her bag, getting her paycheck. The only place he probably didn't really see Enrique was at the retirement party. Which episode was that? Maybe episode three. Where they were hoping the husband who was cheating in episode three was hoping for Enrique to jump in and take some heat. That was the only episode I say people did actually mind their business. I mean, they were, they were. People knew they were talking, but they didn't get involved. That's probably the only one. But every time the correct response was exactly what my niece said. Mind your business. Unless you have something good, group chat, you send it over to us. Okay, this is. This is where we share. But yeah, sometimes not minding your business is what makes a story juicy. And so I honestly do not mind those of you that are out there, those Enriques out there. We know you got a story. Bring it in. So here's what second grade taught me today with this episode. Drama is not a phase. Drama is not something that goes away when you grow up. It just gets a little more expensive, maybe a little more ambiguous. And sometimes it involves HR, but at its core, it's always the same thing. Someone felt something, someone reacted, Someone was told to calm down, or, you know, somebody else got involved to take care of it. And someone always had way too much to say about it, which is how it ends up here. We love you for that part. And that is season one of work Drama in a nutshell. We're one episode away from season one finale. We built a season together, guys. Honestly, I didn't think I would get stories sourced from you guys from the actual workplace group chat until probably season two. But you guys showed up and showed out, and I'm so excited to be doing this with you guys, to be building this together. So if you're listening and you're still sitting on something, a story that lives in your group chat, in your team's meeting chat, that you're still talking about the situation that you still can't believe actually happened, something that made you pick up the phone and text your work bestie, especially the times when you're texting the work bestie that no longer works with you because I've been there this year. Send it in. The email is in the description. Again, it's workdramapodmail.com names changed, jobs protected. And as always, mind your business. Unless it's good, then tell us everything. Just kidding. As always, this is not legal advice. Byeeee! Speaker A: Wasn't it fun? [00:30:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I want a little snack. [00:30:54] Speaker A: A little snack? Well, Kailey is picking you up something right now. [00:30:58] Speaker B: Where is it? She's gonna take me to the mall and buy labubus? [00:31:02] Speaker A: Noooo (laughs) Speaker B: C'mon, I want my own labubus [00:31:05] Speaker A: you can jump off (hear rustling from lylah jumping off the stool) That's it for today's episode of Work Drama.
